HANNE LARSEN
Yoga
I came to yoga in my early 20s. I wanted to supplement my dance training so I could gain further control over my body.
Upon the suggestion of my teacher, I found a 30-day yoga challenge on YouTube.
I was surprised to feel grounded and present, connected to myself in a whole new way.

Teaching
When I transitioned to in-person practicing, I chose JP Centre Yoga, a studio in my neighborhood that had a 200-RYT. This is the studio where I took my first steps as a teacher. I studied under Daniel Max, Magi Pierce, Tim Kelleher, and Alana Brennan in 2017.
I also completed Alana Brennan's mentorship program in 2018. I taught at 4 Corners Yoga + Wellness in Dorchester, Massachusetts. I became certified as a Restorative Yoga teacher under Brenna Matthews and Alex Bauermeister (25-hour RYT) in 2020. I went on to teach at the Bed Stuy YMCA and Dou Yoga. Currently, I am in mentorship training with Shieri Yamafuji.
I imbue the practice with acceptance and with the reassurance that you are not alone in your experiences. I offer information about pelvic health, as well as tools and resources to manage the complexities of chronic pain and when it is difficult to be in the body. I will be running a community workshop called the Queer Chronic Cuties at Dou Yoga in 2026.
I am available for group classes, privates, and workshops.

"Hanne has been doing one-on-one yoga sessions with me over the last year, first in person and later online when the pandemic hit. The experience with working with Hanne has been wonderful; she is knowledgeable, thoughtful, always open to changes and adjustments according to my needs and absolutely a pleasure to spend time with. In our time together I have been able to reconnect with my yoga practice after I had spinal surgery in 2019 in a mindful and purposeful way" - Isabel Q.
"Hanne is calm and thoughtful, and places an emphasis on what is realistic for the body over what it should accomplish. She is generous with her time and thoughts, and I love talking to her about finding more balance in a practice or just in life." - Brianna C.
"Hanne is very professional and welcoming, she made me feel very invited and safe in the space we did yoga. She is also accommodating and doesn’t rush the session, she takes her time to make sure I did every pose right and will demonstrate them for me. She was also nice enough to let me use her mat and yoga props. Overall she is a kind soul and her services provide great value, my body felt a lot better after our session, and I just came back from a 8 month deployment. 10/10" - Ali K.
